01. PROJECT OVERVIEW

Movie trailers are a great way to see what movies are being released and view a snippet of a particular movie which in turn may excite moviegoers. I thought that an app that can allow you to view trailers as well as keep track of the trailers being released would be very handy for serious movie goers. I wanted to design a simple, streamlined and user-friendly app first and foremost but also one that is delightful and easy to use without being bloated with many uneccessary features that just make the experience feel convoluted, impraticle and confusing. I referenced an existing app and looked at the pros and cons of the app, where and how it can be improved and what features I can remove or introduce to achieve the ultimate goal. In addition the app I designed a unique app icon that represents the qualities of the app in it’s boldness, simplicity, sleekness.

02. PROCESS

Problem

Passionate movie goers often like viewng movie trailers because it provides excitement and gives them a hint of what to expect regarding the characters and storyline of the movies that interest them. Movie producers often produce multiple trailers as a movie release approaches and it would be really beneficial if there was a way to keep track of all the trailers released, particularly for the movies a person is interested in. An app specifically for movie trailers that is easily accessible, simple, streamlined and easy to use would be of great value. Many current apps however are very convoluted and over the top often having many uneccessary features that just make the app more complicated and unusable and difficult to keep up-to-date.

Goal

Take an existing movie trailer app and improve not just the overall Visual/UI design but the overall experience as well with the goal of providing a simple, intuitive and engaging way for users to watch movie trailers and keep track of them.

• Needs to be streamlined and less convoluted, making it more user-friendly and fun to use

• More visually appealing and engaging

• Be able to easily search and find specific trailers

• Better categorization and organization of the various types of movies

• Ability to save the trailers of movies a user would like to follow and be notified when new trailers or video snippets are posted for those movies

• Get some basic information about the movie such as movie category, story summary, characters, release date, etc.

• A filtering system to narrow down searches for a specific movie

• All trailers by release with indicator of unwatched trailers
• Other movie recommendations based on personalized preferences

• When a saved trailer has a new video just released
• When an upcoming movie trailer is available for a movie you saved as your favorite
